ABSTRACT

This study measures the relationship between midterm exams, assignments, and final exams of online learning on university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research subjects were 206 students from six departments at the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Malang. The data was obtained from the database of the Academic Information System of Universitas Negeri Malang. The results showed that the midterm exam had a significant effect on assignments, the midterm exam had a significant effect on the final exam, and the assignments had a significant effect on the final exam. The analysis shows that assignments significantly mediate the effect of the midterm exam on the final exam. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of online teaching with the SIPEJAR platform during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a teaching program evaluation research approach. To measure the effectiveness of online teaching with the SIPEJAR Platform, we used a questionnaire containing 15 questions. Research respondents were 214 students of the Universitas Negeri Malang. Data obtained from student responses to online teaching extracted from SIAKAD. We used descriptive statistical data analysis and the one-sample t-test formula to test the hypothesis. The results show that online teaching with the SIPEJAR platform is effectively implemented to support instructional activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The crowdsourcing system relies heavily on the number of crowd participation on the platform to ensure the platform's success. However, exploring factors that motivate the crowds to sustain on the platform remains unclear, and very little literature was found on this matter. Lately, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the world, including Malaysia. Due to the pandemic, many people have lost their jobs, and hence, most of them have shifted to digital work. Hence, to understand the motivation for continuous participation on the online crowdsourcing platform among low-income crowd workers (B40) in Malaysia, this paper explores the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations for continuous participation. A qualitative method interview was performed where 14 active participants of Upwork.com, under the GLOW program, took part during the data collection process. This paper used the thematic analysis method to extract the data collected from this study. The finding of this study identified eight intrinsic motivation factors: (1) personal development, (2) pastime, (3) fun, (4) passion, (5) task identity, (6) time-workplace flexibility, (7) altruistic, and (8) peers' success and four extrinsic factors: (1) monetary, (2) job security, (3) personal commitment, and (4) environment.

ABSTRACT

The increasing number of retrenchments because of the current global pandemic, Covid-19, has led many to shift to the digital economy, especially among the low-income group (B40) in Malaysia. Crowdsourcing is the collection of information, opinions, or work from a group of people, usually sourced via the Internet. Fueled by the development of Internet-based platforms that provided its technological foundation, and the need for an agile and uniquely skilled workforce, crowdsourcing has grown from the grassroots, with a burgeoning body of research investigating its many aspects. However, very few studies examined crowd workers' motivation for continuous participation on online crowdsourcing platforms. Thus, this paper aims to explore the technological factors that facilitate B40's group motivation in Malaysia to continue to participate in online crowdsourcing platforms. This paper employed a qualitative approach, using a semi-structured interview. The thematic analysis method was used to decode the data extracted from the interview transcript. The finding of this study identified four main themes and seven sub-themes: (1) Technology efficacy, (2) Platform Management: client-worker management, safety net, payment mechanism, (3) Platform Design: Ul design, rating feature and (4) Infrastructure: Internet connection, technology infrastructure. This study can provide a guideline for managing crowdsourcing practices in Malaysia, especially for the crowdsourcing platform developer.

ABSTRACT

The DeLone and McLean (D&M) information systems (IS) success model seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of IS success by identifying and explaining the relationships among their most critical dimensions of success. Many studies have offered important insights into this model. Nevertheless, regarding the e-learning body of knowledge, D&M research remains to be systematically reviewed comprehensively. E-learning refers to the use of information technology to disseminate knowledge for education and training. With today's e-learning boom necessitated for the most part by COVID-19, its adoption has become increasingly mandatory. Thus, a systematic review should help focus and accelerate future research. This study systematically reviews, compiles, analyzes, and synthesizes the D&M model studies in the e-learning context. This review adopts automatic and manual search methods to collect related studies from 2010 to 2020. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 92 primary studies are identified. The findings show that most of reviewed studies were conducted in the education field. The success category was the most highly investigated area from among the selected studies. Most studies developed a hybrid/extended model. Additionally, this study also identified gaps in the literature and recommends seven potential future areas requiring further investigation, such as conducting studies to examine the net benefits at the organizational level of analysis. To that end, the findings of this systematic review study provide an impactful contribution through offering a holistic review of the current state of D&M model studies in an e-learning context, providing an essential reference for scholars in this field.
